ACT Skill Bands: A Clear Pathway for Growth

Badger Math is built on the ACT College and Career Readiness Standards, which organize mathematical skills into “skill bands”—ranges of scores that identify what students typically know and are ready to learn next. These bands (13–15, 16–19, 20–23, 24–27, 28–32, and 33–36) provide a research-based progression of mathematical understanding.

Each Badger Math course is intentionally designed around these bands through a Review–Focus–Secondary structure:

  • Review Standards reinforce skills students have already encountered.

  • Focus Standards target the band where students will spend most of their instructional time.

  • Secondary Standards introduce upper-level skills that prepare students for what comes next.

This approach allows students to build confidence, experience appropriate challenge, and progress through math with a clear, upward trajectory aligned to college- and career-readiness expectations.

Badger Math ensures that every student is learning at the edge of their ability—supported, stretched, and prepared for high-level success.
